People often ask: Why can't my candle burn out a smooth and beautiful wax pool? In fact, how to burn aromatherapy candles is very particular. Being able to burn not only makes the candles look good, but also effectively prolongs their burning time.
1.The first burn is crucial!
If you want aromatherapy candles to burn beautifully, try to have a smooth and melted wax pool before extinguishing them every time you burn them, especially during the first burning. After each burning, the wax next to the wick becomes loose and not tight. If the melting point of the wax material is high, the wick does not match well, and the ambient temperature is low, the pit of the candle burning will become deeper and deeper as the number of blows increases.
The initial burning time varies depending on the size of the candle, generally not exceeding 4 hours.

2. Trim the wick of the candle
Depending on the type and quality of the candle wick, it may be necessary to trim the wick according to the situation. However, except for wooden wicks, cotton wicks and eco-friendly wicks generally have longer wicks when they leave the factory. Before the first burn, they need to be trimmed to leave a length of about 8mm. After each burn, if the wick is too long, it also needs to be trimmed appropriately.
The wick is too long, and the candle will burn out quickly. Trimming it can make the candle last longer. Moreover, if not trimmed, the candle wick is prone to coalescing and producing black smoke, and the candle cup wall is easily smoked black.

3. Let professional tools do professional things
When entering the aromatherapy candle pit, you need to equip at least three professional tools: candle extinguisher, candle lighter, and wick cutter.
(1) Candle extinguisher
Common candle burners include a candle extinguishing cover and a candle extinguishing hook. The purpose of the candle extinguishing hook is to press the wick into the candle holder to extinguish it, which can easily cause the charcoal head at the top of the wick to fall into the wax holder. In contrast, a candle extinguishing hood is a better choice.

(2) Candle lighter
Aromatherapy candles are usually made of container wax. After a period of use, the wick of the candle will be much lower than the rim of the cup, and most lighters cannot reach it. Therefore, you need to prepare a specialized candle lighter for aromatherapy candles.
Candle lighters are divided into two types: inflatable and rechargeable. Inflatable ones are similar to our lighters, and we recommend the rechargeable version, which uses pulse ignition and is not afraid of strong winds. It is not only beautiful but also reusable.

(3) Candlewick cutter
Candlewick clippers are used to trim candle wicks. As mentioned above, why is it necessary to trim candle wicks? However, candle cups usually have a narrow diameter, and ordinary scissors cannot be extended into them for construction. Therefore, professional candle wick clippers with bending angles are needed. The round head below the wick can also catch the trimmed wick to prevent it from falling into the wax pool.

4. Twist the candle wick straight after each burn
Because most candle wicks are made of cotton, a disadvantage of cotton wicks is that they are prone to skewing during combustion. Environmentally friendly candle wicks from foreign countries have better paper hardness, but once the wick is skewed and not twisted straight, the candle flame will be skewed, resulting in uneven melting rates of wax on both sides of the candle, making it difficult to burn a flat wax pool.

5. Each combustion should not exceed 4 hours
Aromatherapy candles should not burn for more than 4 hours each time. After 4 hours, it is extremely easy to cause problems such as mushroom heads, black smoke, and container overheating, especially for imported candles from abroad.

6. Cover the lid when not burning
When aromatherapy candles are not burning, it is best to cover them with a lid. If left open outside, not only is it prone to dust, but the bigger problem is that the fragrance can easily get lost. If you don't want to spend money on a lid, you can also keep the packaging box of the candle. When the candle is not in use, it can be put back in the box and stored in a cool and dry cabinet. Some candles come with a built-in lid.
